Book Blitz: The Royal Spy by Cassie M Shiels

Today I'm helping out with a book blitz for a friend of mine!!! I always love supporting authors, but I think there is something special about actually knowing the author I'm featuring.
So let's get this kicked off!
First up, let me introduce you!

 Author Bio:
Cassie M. Shiels was born in Idaho, but moved around the Pacific Northwest while growing up. She has always enjoyed books and was one to be found, reading late into the night, on the school bus or before she did her homework. In middle school she determined that she liked creating her own stories as much as she liked reading them; so she decided she wanted to be a writer and keeps working on making that dream come true with every story idea that bounds into her head. She is also a certified childbirth educator and loves teaching new prospective parents about childbirth.

Isn't she adorable?
Now to introduce you to her fabulous story!!!

Blurb:

Even though Katie is a royal princess, all she knows is how to be a spy. She constantly goes from mission to mission, never getting the chance to understand her birthright. This all changes when her father sends her on a mission to Floric with the cover of being a princess who is trying to win the prince’s heart. This mission proves to be very different from the others with a shadowy figure to chase, secret passages to explore, secrets to keep and the problem of betrayal that she is about to discover.

Don't you just love that cover!
I would LOVE to own a dress like that. GORGEOUS!!!

NOW, for the

Gail B. Williams

Gail Williams lives in her own private dungeon populated with all the weird and the wonderful she can imagine. Some of it’s very weird, and the odd bits and pieces are a bit wonderful. With a vivid imagination fuelled by a near death experience at the age of three, there was really no other choice for Gail than to write, something she’s been doing for as long as she can remember. Character Casting: Selected by the author herself!!!

Sarah
– Not sure who I’d cast for Sarah, possibly Anne Hathaway.
Sarah has been stranded by her family, exiled from society for the crime of being too intelligent.  Taught to be ashamed of herself she takes criticism hard, while striving to do the right thing.  Loving Andrew was instant and natural and he is the one thing in her life guaranteed to make her smile.

Andrew – Always interested in science and medicine, Andrew is largely self-taught as his background wasn’t affluent enough to allow him to study as he would have wished.  When the opportunity arose for him to travel to foreign lands he grabbed the opportunity with both hands rather than languish in a rut where he would never achieve his goals.  Fate and a terrible storm brought him to the island and when he was rescued, he’d thought he was dying, the shard of wood in his chest convinced him of that.  When Sarah and Trimble had pulled him from the water, he’d taken one look at her and fallen for his dark haired angel.
I think Hugh Darcy would be great in this role.

Mrs Flynn – An experienced housekeeper, Mrs Flynn had managed one of Sarah’s father’s houses for years.  She’d know Sarah form birth.  Speaking up to defend the young girl was the reason Sarah’s father was more than happy when Mrs Flynn volunteered to be exiled to the island with Sarah
The woman in this picture is Kate Duchêne, who is a little on the young side for this role, but she's picture perfect.  She also has this hard looking exterior, but she plays softer on the inside so very well.

Mr Trimble – A tenant farmer for Sarah’s father who had never seen eye to eye with the man, Trimble was far from a sociable man, but he took quite a shine to young Sarah, not minding if she tagged along with him when she was allowed on the farm.  When Sarah’s father decided to sell the farm, Trimble was out of work and out of a home, so he was more than open to the idea of a life of relative solitude on the island.  Open air and hard work were all he needed in his life.
For looks alone, I'd pick Warren Clarke, though now he's sadly past, I'm not sure who I'd cast.

Now a little excerpt for you to apply those faces!!!
-->
Excerpt
*Note from the author*
At this point Sarah has come to, she knows she's had an accident, but she doesn't know what it was or how it happened.  She assumes that her amnesia is simply a predictable result of the accident.

Only the winder to go on now, Sarah thought, as she slipped the handle in place and secured it with a small cotter pin. Her bottom lip between her teeth, she rotated the handle for a small test.
Chimes rhythmically filled the air as the two little marionettes circled the wooden dance floor.
“You always had such a genius for clockwork.”
She looked up to see Andrew at the open door. The smile that spread across her face was involuntary. “Has it been an hour already?”
As he stepped into the room, she stood from her work stool to meet him half way. His arms were open and his embrace welcomed and returned. “Actually, it's been over two, I'm afraid I got caught up in my own work. Sorry.”
“No matter.”
His gaze moved to the automaton. “So they dance again.”
She looked over at the machine.“He looks a little like you.”
“She looks a little like you.”
“Two twirling figures forever locked in a mutual embrace.”
“There are worse ways to spend eternity.”
Glad of his arms around her, she looked up at him as the mechanism wound to silence
“Two.”
He looked from the automaton to her. “Two?”
“You said there were two things I love to do up here. What is the other one?”
His smile was saucy and appealing. “Well, you are my wife.”

*Note from the author*
I picked this excerpt with because it's the time at which Sarah is happiest within the text.  She's well, she'd enjoying her tinkering and she's very much in love with a man she has no reason to doubt.  It's one of the most tender points of the story.

Book Tour: Pandemonium: The Phoenix Blade by Andrew J Hess

This is not the first time I've featured Andrew Hess on this blog!
If this book intrigues you, be sure to check out his other book that I've featured, Campus Killer!

Andrew Hess is a resident of Long Island New York who likes to spend much of his time traveling between Long Island, New York City and the Dutchess County areas. In 2011 he debuted with his first book Chamber of Souls, a small book of free verse poetry which depicted the struggles of a man who thought he had everything in the world only to feel like he lost everything after a rough break-up. In 2013, Andrew debuted his novel The Phoenix Blade: Project Justice; the first in The Phoenix Blade series.
Andrew is also a blogger at TheWritersRevolution13.blogspot.com where he interviews and promotes other authors in order to assist indie authors get more exposure. Andrew is also a frequent guest on the Anthony Charles Podcast, a show dedicated to creative professionals as they give insight into their works and the lives they lead; guests have included authors, comedians, musicians, stuntmen, actors and producers.

Paranoia is at an all-time high. After the recent attack on the group formerly known as the Revolution, Andrew Lancaster (A.K.A. the Phoenix) has decided to retreat and take the group back to New York. To make matters worse, the terrorist known as Reaper, has gone into hiding…or has he?

Months of silence has left the Lancaster with a false sense of security. His defiance of Presidential orders have left the group vulnerable to another attack. With Reaper hiding in the shadows, he sets his sights on complete chaos. He will stop at nothing to destroy everyone in the Andrew Lancaster’s life.

Will the Phoenix let his friends and loved ones fall victim to Reaper’s deadly games or will he rise from the ashes one more time to stop the man with the white skulled face?

And now, check out the awesome main character casting line-up, chosen by Andrew Hess himself!
He was even kind enough to include a bit of info on the characters themselves!(Don't you just love a peak into the author's head?)

Andrew Lancaster

Andrew Lancaster has been a troubled teen, a man seeking revenge for his mother's death, a soldier for Project Justice, a lover and someone desperately trying to find a way out. His character has been one of the hardest ones I could ever think to cast because it is someone I have spent years getting to know. Many have given their input as to who they would put in that role, but none seemed right to me. Then I found two actors that have the look for the Andrew Lancaster role and have been acting for years.

Skylar Astin-
His most notable role to this point has been Jesse in the hit movie Pitch Perfect but has also made cameo appearances in shows like Glee, House, Massholes, Girls, Love Bites, and in other movies such as 21 and over, Wreck-It Ralph and has signed on to reprise his role of Jesse in Pitch Perfect 2.

David Henrie-
He fits the perfect age range for the Andrew Lancaster character. And although he is still young, David has an impressive acting resume with cameo appearances on shows from his childhood to his reoccurring role as Justin Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place to being in the movie Grown Ups 2 and his upcoming role in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2. His most notable roles have been on Wizards of Waverly Place and being seen as Ted Mosby's son on How I Met Your Mother.

Lilly Henderson

Lilly Henderson is a character that is sweet and caring. A woman you want to pull for and wish to see her get her happy ending. At the same time she has that snappy, overprotective, stubborn attitude that makes her a good fit for the Andrew Lancaster's group. With that said, her character needs the right type of actress to fit perfectly into that role and there was only one that I could think of.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher-
When I think of Lilly, JoAnna Garcia has the look, the personality and the quirkiness that fits the character perfectly. She has played numerous roles in both TV and movies. She played Sam in the hit Nickelodeon show “Are You Afraid of the Dark”, Sandy Sue in “Not Another Teen Movie”, Christy in “American Pie 2”, Cheyenne in the hit show “Reba”, Parker Wald in “Revenge of the Bridesmaids”, Megan in “The Internship”, and Ariel in the hit show “Once Upon a Time.”

Mike Santangelo

Mike adds the comedic flare to the group, but is also very serious. He is young, youthful, still wanting to party but understands the dire situation he and his friends are in. There are two actors that would be great fits for Mike's character

Logan Henderson-
A young up and comer. He has the look of a typical early twenties frat boy which best describes Mike Santangelo's character. Henderson's filmography begins in 2008 with Friday Night Lights and is most notable for his role as Logan Mitchel of Big Time Rush.
Shawn Roberts-A 30yr old actor who has the cunning wit and youthful face to portray Mike Santangelo. Roberts has been acting since 1994 with an impressive resume including paying the infamous Albert Wesker from the Resident Evil Series.

Tino Arcana

A wild card in The Phoenix Blade Series. Arcana was the man entrusted to play the Revolution's video to send their message to the world. He is crafty and mysterious. He has history with the Benefactor and the information he holds is a game changer. He takes more of an active role in third book of The Phoenix Blade as Andrew entrusts him to protect his team while he is away and also help with some investigating.

Anthony Tyler Quinn-
He played Mr. Jonathan Turner from Boy Meets World. He has the soft spoken yet authoritative voice needed to portray a network executive who has a jaded personality. He has the perfect persona to convince Andrew Lancaster to trust him.

Faith Brant

She is Andrew Lancaster's ex-girlfriend that gives the group a place to crash for a few hours as the journey to their second mission. Her stubbornness and take no B.S. attitude has her clashing with her ex and his best friend constantly throughout The Phoenix Blade Series, but also see her compassionate side when she finally decides to let her guard down.

Karen Gillan-
A relatively new actress to me although she has been in various roles since 2008. Her recent role as Kaylie Russell in the horror film Oculus proved to standout in my mind. Her fast talking, stubborn, need to get to the bottom of things attitude hit me as the perfect red head to fit the role of Faith Brant.

Amber Fergusson

Sassy, sweet and stubborn is the best way to describe Amber Fergusson. She is someone that appears near the end of the first book, Project Justice, but plays a key role in the second and third books in The Phoenix Blade Series. She has become the love interest for Andrew Lancaster and is very protective of him.

Anna Kendrick-
I first noticed Anna Kendrick in the movie Pitch Perfect, but was not the role that made me see her as the perfect choice for the Amber Fergusson character. It was her role in 50/50 as Katherine, Adam's therapist, that made me see the kind emotional side of Kendrick. Her other roles showed her stubborn and sassy attitude that was a great fit for the role.
