Book Tour: Blood Prophecy by Barb Jones

Book Blurb:

Amber Stone, once a child prodigy, has just become curator of a special collection of Macedonian artifacts for the Seattle Museum of Natural History. Chloe, a prodigy of a different sort, holds a position at the museum focusing on tribal art. The two become fast friends, united by Amber's unsettling dreams and Chloe's unorthodox ways of dealing with them. Two strangers arrive in town, bringing with them a prophecy recorded more than three-thousand years ago, a prophecy that places Amber directly in the midst of a battle that has spanned a millennia.

Author Bio:

Having been born and raised in Hawaii, I loved telling stories ever since I was a child about vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, and witches. I was a little girl who loved scary stories, much to my mother's dismay. The scarier - the better. Hawaii was a perfect place for stories until I moved to Seattle. I decided to turn a love for the supernatural into writing stories to see if others would love them as much as I do. Currently, I live in Florida but since I'm a Seattle girl at heart, my stories take place in the Northwest. I continue to write supernatural stories of vampires, werewolves, witches, and more while enjoying the beaches and sunshine. I also love to help others and give back to my community.

Excerpt from the book:

Chloe, Yakima, 1993
Chloe held tightly to her mother’s hand and they walked through the pines. She stepped around the occasional drifts of snow that stubbornly refused to melt even now at the end of March.  Six others walked with them, heading deeper into the woods.  Chloe looked at their feet, trying to match the sound of the needles and brush crackling under their boots to each particular step.  She concentrated on the sounds.  When she was satisfied she could identify each of the walkers by the noise of their footsteps, she turned her attention to their breathing.  Her mother was easy, and she recognized the pattern without having to think much about it.
The others took a little work.  The man ahead and to the right breathed shallowly and regularly, while the one behind them wheezed a little.  The woman next to her mother breathed purposefully, as though every exhalation resulted from conscious intention.  The others—
“Mommy, stop.”  Her mother looked down at her and Chloe began to tug at her arm, pulling her south.  “Come on.”  Her mother looked at the wheezing man and he nodded, so she allowed Chloe to guide her and the others followed.  In a few minutes, the bubbling of the Yakima River reached Chloe’s ears.  In four or five more, the others heard it as well.  She pulled her mother through a last copse of trees and stood at the bank, staring at the water.
“What is it, honey?” Chloe’s mother knelt beside her and studied her face.
“The whitefish is about to die.”  Chloe pointed at the water.
“What whitefish, sweetie?”
“The one right there.”  She was still pointing at the water.  Her mother followed her finger to the water and squinted, but couldn’t make out anything below the ripples of the river.
“How is the whitefish going to die, Chloe?”  It was the wheezer. He’d walked up to where the girl and her mother stood on the bank.  He pointed at the water.  “Will another fish come and get it?”
Chloe reached out and took the man’s hand, still pointing, and lifted it up, pushing it as far as her reach allowed.  “The sky will kill it.”
The man looked up and studied the sky for a while, then turned his attention on Chloe’s mother.  “Marlene, I’m just not sure.  She feels intently, I know that.  Still, it’s not just…what?  What is it?”
Marlene’s eyes had grown wide and she stared at the sky.  “Look, Tom.”
He looked up.  It was an eagle, and it circled above the river.  Suddenly, it dove, and Tom gasped at the speed of the thing.  In only a second or so, it was flying back upward, a whitefish in its talons.
He looked at Chloe.  “You were right, she has the Sight.”

BLOG BLITZ: More Than A Review by Donna Feyen

I am so excited to have Donna Feyen and her amazing blog site visiting my blog today!

Donna is the host of WWW.MORETHANAREVIEW.COM where she reviews tons and tons of books!
It's a great resource for checking out those books you've been wondering about and deciding if they are worth the read!
Or before you purchase!

Meet The Founder

A bit about Donna Feyen:
More Than A Review (MTAR) founder, Donna Feyen, is an avid reader, a “stalker” (a.k.a. devoted fan) of popular band Third Day, and loves to scrapbook in both the traditional and digital styles using Creative Memories tools.  She loves Beth Moore bible studies, has worked at the same company for 27+ years, and loves to travel!  Some of her bucket list items include: visiting Hawaii, another trip to Germany (where her husband was born), and riding their motorcycle down interstate 1 in California.  Donna lives in Northwest Arkansas with her husband and her 3 beautiful black labs.
Where did the vision for MTAR come from:
Donna started MTAR after reading several books that fell short of their “traditional” reviews and included more graphic content than she was expecting to read.   These disappointments and the inability to research the content of a book before purchase, led Donna to the purpose and vision behind MTAR.
After discussing her ideas with friends and family, Donna began to develop the science behind creating a website that would provide in-depth book reviews while also including a detailed “grading” system to provide readers upfront knowledge about the content of books they choose to read.
How readers can become involved:
Currently, MTAR allows anyone to write book reviews once they have registered via the MTAR homepage login screen.  Our hopes are that requiring a reviewer to register prior to posting a review will deter individuals who may cause havoc on the site.  Should we miss someone, there is a “report abuse” button that any reviewer may click if they identify someone who is abusing the privilege of posting a book review.
What we do:
  1. MTAR provides a platform for books to be reviewed by overall content and by four specific content categories.
  2. MTAR provides the ability to search for books based on specific content levels and genre.
  3. MTAR also provides book recommendations based on a registered users preferred content level.
In the coming months, we will add author interviews, excerpts from new releases, and a newsletter to provide additional noteworthy information for each genre represented in the titles found on MTAR.

To my amazing prayer warriors:
I believe that God puts people in our lives to help guide and mentor us along the path of life.  The MTAR project has been no different!  Thank you to my sister and my parents for their encouragement and continued support. To my mentor who was there when I was ready to give up and somehow managed to convince this hard-headed girl to enter her idea into a Start Up Cup competition, thank you does not seem nearly enough!  To my great friends who spent the day with me entering in book reviews, I remember that day like it was yesterday and it was what fully jumpstarted me, thank you!
To ALL of my prayer warriors, you can move mountains!!!

Snippet from Trouble Blows West:

A hush fell over the school cafeteria.
Ginnie West looked up just in time to see trouble brewing in the form of the biggest bully in sixth grade.
Pierce Owens stomped his way toward her twin brother, his face twisted with fury.  “Toran West, you’re toast!”
Swallowing hard, Ginnie knew this day would not end well. She jumped to her feet, her blonde braids thumping her back. “Go away, Pierce!”
Toran pushed his chair away from the rectangular table. “Ginnie, let me handle this.”
“No way!” Ginnie’s whole body tensed as she glared at Pierce. “Toran isn’t going to fight with you.”
 Heads swiveled left and right.
Pierce glowered angrily, his eyes forming slits. “I was right. And you’re going to pay, West!”

Toran stood, shaking his head like an Etch-A-Sketch. “What are you talking about?”
Her twin’s stick-thin frame next to Pierce’s taller and rounder body reminded Ginnie of the number ten, with the ‘0’ being overly round and out of proportion to the ‘1’.
The thought made her giggle.
Pierce shot her a warning glare and then poked his finger in Toran’s chest.
“Hey! Keep your hands to yourself!” Ginnie demanded.
Pierce poked Toran again.
Toran backed up.
Pierce leaned forward. “You cheated and made me look stupid! Pierce Owens doesn’t let nobody make him look stupid.”
“Too late. Nobody has to help you look stupid!” Ginnie said, going around the table to join her brother, heart pounding. “You’re so stupid you think a quarterback is a refund.”
Toran’s eyes widened. Half of their friends laughed. The other half dropped their jaws in stunned horror.
Concern wormed its way into Ginnie’s belly as she realized too late that taking on Pierce wasn’t the smartest thing she’d ever done.
Austin Chandler scrambled to Toran’s other side. “Move back, Pierce!”
Oh, good. Austin has my back. We’ve got this. The Three Musketeers ride again. Ginnie smiled at Austin with more confidence than she felt and then turned back to Pierce. “You heard him, move it.”
Pierce ignored Austin, then scowled at Ginnie. “You’re not part of this!”
“I am now.” Ginnie put herself squarely between Toran and harm’s way. “You mess with my brother … you mess with me.” Pierce towered over her, but that didn’t matter. No one was flattening Toran under her watch.
“Stop!” Toran demanded, grabbing her arm. “I’ve got this.”
She shrugged off her brother’s hand. “Not happening.”
Pierce reached around Ginnie and yanked Toran’s midnight blue polo shirtsleeve.
Ginnie didn’t waste a second. She snatched at Pierce’s hand, then sideswiped her foot behind his, shoving him with her forearm as hard as she could. He hit the floor with a thud.

A warm, happy feeling rushed over her as the room erupted in a mixture of thundering applause and mocking laughter.
Pierce blinked. Confusion colored his face. It was obvious he didn’t expect that attack, and certainly not from a girl.
He scrambled to his feet, growing taller and more menacing.
Ginnie readied for the expected punch, hoping it wouldn’t hurt too much. No way was she gonna let Pierce make her cry.

Don't forget to follow along on the book tour as each of the books will be featured throughout the next two weeks of the tour!
