Book Tour: The Strange and Lovely Anthology: School Spirit by Jennifer Griffith

First let me tell you what this anthology is all about,
the main book blurb:

Zombies and vampires and ghosts....oh, my!

From fae assassins to subjugating the dead, Strange and Lovely is a collection of short stories that seamlessly blends spine-tingling chills and swoon-worthy romance.

This young adult paranormal anthology of supernatural creatures from ten talented authors serves up short stories with heart-stopping storytelling that will haunt you long after you've put it down. Open the pages and discover worlds colliding and struggles for life and love. You’ll find a tale of a young incubus desperately fighting his nature (and diet) alongside Ashley who has a choice—run from the vampires who will stop at nothing to kill her, or become one of them. Dipping deep into romance you’ll find enchanting assassins too beautiful and deadly, and a touching tangle of a love story between an angel and a mermaid both struggling to make their love last. This book will be sure to make you believe that even in the darkest of nights love can find a way.

If you love tales of paranormal romance or supernatural thrills but can't decide which ghostly or otherworldly creature to focus on, this is the perfect book for you.

Best-selling authors such as Jenni James, Amber Argyle, Stephanie Fowers, and Cindy M. Hogan craft thrilling new stories filled with engaging characters, while others, like Christine Fonseca, Jennifer Griffith, C. J. Anaya, Jennifer Bryce, M. Leigh Marrott, and Rebecca Gage, explode off the page with unique takes on familiar supernatural favorites.

Whether humorous, suspenseful, or romantic, the stories in Strange and Lovely will leave you feeling wickedly entertained.

The entire thing sounds fantastic, right? WELL, my good friend Jennifer Griffith is one of the authors that contributed to the anthology, so I just HAD to feature her part! School Spirit is AMAZING! And I'm not saying that just because I'm a little biased. ;)

Here is the mini blurb:

Basketball star Luke stomped all over cheerleader Hailey’s heart, but she still has to cheer for him. When a mysterious hot guy in a loin cloth appears on the basketball court and protects Luke from getting fouled, and nobody else notices or cares, Hailey takes matters into her own hands—and finds she might be having a supernatural encounter with a "school spirit."

Isn't that AWESOME!?!?! I have no clue where she comes up with this stuff! A little about the fabulous lady I call friend.

Jennifer Griffith's Author Bio:

Jennifer Griffith is a wife and a mother of five, and although she’s never seen a ghost, she believes in them and would love to meet one and ask a lot of questions. She’s the author of seven novels, all romantic comedies.

I asked Jennifer who she would select to play the lead rolls if School Spirit was ever made into a movie {You know I love to do these,
but it's extra fun to ask Jen since her book Big in Japan
is ACTUALLY being made into a movie RIGHT NOW!!!!!!}
and this is what she told me:

"The people I pictured were Cindy Anaya and her husband, to be honest.
He's a basketball player, and he looks kind of Mayan, to be honest. Maybe get Cindy's permission to post her profile pic of her and Joe? Okay, no. Just kidding. Don't do that. I'll keep thinking. Why is this so hard?"

SURPRISE!!! I went and got Cindy's permission. I couldn't help it! She is also a friend of mine, and a fellow writer (she contributed to the Strange and Lovely Anthology, as well as has published The Healer, and The Black Blossom)

Now you know Jennifer's inspiration behind her characters! What do you think? As a bonus, if Cindy was actually cast in the movie, it could be made into a musical because she sings like an angel!!!

And here is a snippet from School Spirit so you can read the words and look at the faces Jen was picturing as she wrote! (It's kind of magical, don't you think?)

SNIPPET

The flip had made her head a bit dizzy, and it took Hailey a second to get her bearings back. The other cheerleaders dashed to their side of the court so the pep band could come down, but Hailey’s feet were glued to the foul line. There, on the endline under the basket, not ten feet away, stood loin cloth guy. And he was looking into her eyes. And smiling—like he knew a secret.
“Hey!” Hailey took a few steps toward him. “Don’t look at me like that. It’s … wolfish.” She expected him to back away. Or even disappear again. But he didn’t. He kept standing there. Now he was rubbing his chin and nodding, like he’d just seen his first Corvette. Guys always went gaggy over Corvettes. “It’s not gentlemanly.”
Suddenly, the guy snapped to, and he did in fact start backing away. Hailey marched toward him.

Be sure to follow along on the rest of the tour as we check out all the other fabulous parts to this amazing anthology!!!

Release Day Book Blitz: The Black Blossom by C J Anaya

ALMOST a month ago I had the privilege of doing a cover reveal for Author C.J. Anaya's book

Today I get the privilege of letting you get a peak inside and get to know some fun facts about the author as well as we celebrate it's RELEASE DAY!!!

C J Anaya is a good friend of mine, in fact we attend the same writing group, so I'm very excited to share her book with you!
Don't forget to leave her a kind comment below before you leave!!!

Author Bio:
C. J. Anaya began writing short stories for family and friends when she was thirteen years old. This soon morphed into an extensive project every year during Christmas as a way to create a fun and inexpensive Christmas gift.

Her passion for reading and writing led her to following her own dreams of becoming a published author. She was born in Utah and raised everywhere else. She even lived a few years in Brazil, enjoying the people, the culture and learning the beautiful language of Portuguese; a language she is still fluent in to this day. As a result of her exposure to varying peoples and cultures, her interests became varied as well.

As a mother of four children she is now a singer and a songwriter, a baker and a cake decorator, a dancer and a choreographer, a girl with a degree in Criminal Justice and a first time published author of YA paranormal romance and fantasy. She is also married to the most deliciously, handsome looking Latino. As always, she has plenty to write about.

To win this seemingly hopeless war, she must train with Musubi, a warrior in the rebel army, and learn the art of the sword without revealing her identity as The Healer.

Unbeknownst to her, Musubi harbors his own secret identity and personal agenda, both of which hold dark consequences for Mikomi's future. Neither one can afford to share their secrets, nor can they ignore the powerful chemistry building between them.

Further complications arise at the arrival of her betrothed, Katsu, who must aid her in mastering control of her own gift before she ascends as a full kami on her eighteenth birthday. Katsu is not the cold-hearted warrior god she expected, but how can she spend eternity with a deity she may never love?

Determined to avoid her destiny, she spies on her father and his generals, collecting intelligence for the rebel army in the hope that one day the empire of Kagami will be liberated and her own future will be hers to control.

SNIPPET:
***WARNING***
This snippet will make you all kinds of giggle and squeal-ie!
(Yes, I just made up a new word, but you will soon know what I mean.)

The young warrior merely leveled me with a suggestive glance and then quirked his lips in amusement and turned my hand over, laying a kiss on the soft pulse at my wrist. He couldn’t have failed to notice how my heart rate sped up at this inappropriate contact.
I forcefully pulled away. “How dare you? You may have saved my life, but that hardly gives you the right to handle me in such an inappropriate manner.” I used the only threat I could think of that might be powerful enough to stop the young warrior’s idea of conquest. “I am betrothed to someone else, and…and he will no doubt kill you for touching me.” I had no intention of following through with my union to Masaru Katsu, but he didn’t have to know that.
The young warrior didn’t look at all frightened. If anything he looked happier with news of my union.
“Your devotion to a man you have never before met does you credit, young princess, but I’m not overly concerned about my demise at the hands of your betrothed.”
I inched backward, getting ready to flee the moment he attempted to touch me again. “And why is that?”
“Because, my dear, I am your betrothed. I am a kami, a warrior god and keeper of the Grass Cutter Sword.”
I looked up in horror as he inched closer and placed both his hands at my waist, pulling me to him.
“I am Katsu.”
