The globe held me entranced.
“Do you notice anything unusual?” Sonya asked.
The little sphere continued rotating on its axis. “The entire globe is unusual," I said.
She smiled.
"How is it rotating on its own like that?" I asked. "And is it really showing current weather systems?"
She nodded. “Yes, and like everything from Gaia, it’s fueled by the magic inherent to that world.”
That little white smudge continued moving from water to land, as the world turned.
“It’s where we are all from—including you.”

Zane set McKinley on her feet and stood up. He placed his forehead to hers and closed his eyes. “We’d better stop, before I ignore the reason I came looking for you in the first place.” There was a jagged scar on his right cheek. Not that it mattered. As far as she was concerned, that little dink in his body amour was totally appealing. He was still spectacular.

Now about the fabulous lady behind this book!

Debby Lee Author Bio:
Debby Lee was raised in the cozy little town of Toledo, Washington. She has been writing since she was a small child and has written several novels, but never forgets home.
The Northwest Christian Writers Association and Romance Writers of America are two organizations Debby enjoys being a part of. Publications, thus far, include a series of short stories titled The Butterfly Fairytales Collection, and a novella with Barbour Publishing.
As a self-professed nature lover, and an avid listener to 1960s folk music, Debby can't help but feel like a hippie child who wasn't born soon enough to attend Woodstock. She wishes she could run barefoot all year long, but often does anyway in grass and on beaches in her hamlet that is the cold and rainy southwest Washington.
During the football season, Debby cheers on the Seattle Seahawks along with legions of other devoted fans. She's also filled with wanderlust and dreams of visiting Denmark, Italy, and Morocco some day.

Author Interview
1.     What is your favorite past time, or hobby?

I love to read. Some of my favorite authors are John Grisham, Ann Rule, and John Jakes. I love historical fiction, especially historical Inspirational romance, but if I’m desperate or something to read I’ll reach for a road atlas or a telephone book. At least if I peruse a phone book I can come up with character names.

2.     Do prefer to plan things, or be spontaneous?

I like to plan things, to a certain extent, but I like to leave room for spontaneity, as well. I’ve been called impulsive or more than one occasion.

3.     Who is your hero/heroine?

Martin Luther King Jr., Maya Angelou, and Corrie ten Boom are just a few people I admire.

4.     What is your dream vacation?

A three-month trip around the world, beginning in Charleston South Carolina, then up to New York City, then across the Atlantic to Ireland, over to Copenhagen Denmark, south to Nice France and then over to Florence Italy. From there I’d head to Morocco, over to Tahiti and then onto sunny Los Angeles, where I’d walk along the white sandy beaches under the moonlight with the man I love . . . Oh I’m getting off track here. Back to the blog.

5.     What inspired the title of your story?

I love the song California Dreaming by The Mama’s and the Papa’s. It was popular in 1967, when my story took place. I couldn’t use the exact title, so I put a spin on it and came up with Dreaming in California. I thought it would work as a temporary title, but it stuck.

12 Days of Great Summer Reads: Book Blitz: Water so Deep by Nichole Giles

Seventeen-year-old Emma Harris is drowning on dry land.

No one knows what’s happening to her, and she’d like to keep her evolution from human to mermaid a secret, but the truth is getting harder and harder to hide. From her adoptive family, from her friends, and especially from the irresistible James Phelps.

Her time in the ocean is spent dodging a possessive merman, while her time on land is split between caring for her special-needs brother and squeezing in every last possible moment of human life. She soon realizes falling for James is unavoidable when he constantly comes to Emma’s rescue and somehow manages to see through her carefully constructed icy facade to the vulnerability she lives with every day. Everything about James makes Emma yearn for a life on land she just can't have.

When Emma’s brother disappears on her watch, James is the only person she trusts to help her save him. But even if they can save her brother, nothing can prevent her return to the sea. Whether she likes it or not, Emma is changing—unable to breathe without yielding to the tide—and it's only a matter of time before she's forced to surrender forever.

Nichole Giles, the author of the Descendant trilogy, has lived in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Texas. She loves to spend time with her husband and four children, travel to tropical and exotic destinations, drive in the rain with the convertible top down, and play music at full volume so she can sing along.

Excerpt

“Why will you not swim with me?”
If she believed him capable of feeling, she would think he sounded hurt. “I prefer to swim alone.” As her towel soaked the drops of salt water from her legs, the itching eased, and her white skin smoothed. Once she’d finished drying her body, Emma squeezed the water from her hair and wrapped the towel around her head, then turned back to Merrick, leveling her gaze on his face to avoid seeing the parts of him she preferred not to see. “What do you want?”
“You have ten moon cycles left.”
Her neck stiffened. She hardly needed the reminder. “I think it’s eleven, actually.”
“We will be tied soon after your arrival.” He ran his fingers along her shoulder, over her birthmark, until he touched her necklace.
Her hands stilled in the process of unfolding her jeans. She stepped away and yanked the pants on over her swimsuit, then pulled on her tank top and slid her feet into her sandals. If he didn’t represent everything she hated about her future, she might at least try to appreciate his friendship or the way his boyish white-blonde hair belied the manly muscles that bulged along his shoulders. But right now, that was too much to consider. “You’re too old for me, Merrick.”
“You will be happier if you accept your fate.” Heat radiated off him as he moved in behind her, his breath hot on the back of her neck as he forced her into the corner. “Accept me.”
She whirled around, hands clenched into fists, and shoved against his chest. “Go away, Merrick. Leave me alone.
I hate you. I hate you all for giving me a family and then taking it away.”
“Emmalina. I am your family now. In time, you will learn to love the sea. Your ties to land will no longer be a burden— you will forget.”
“I’ll never forget. Ever.”
