Book Tour: The MaxBrides- Hannah and Ash (Book 2) by JL Petersen

Hannah was proud to be part of the MacBride clan. She loved her family, their land and her lavender.

When she found a love she'd wished for all her life on a trip to Paris she thought she had it all. But hidden circumstances separated them leaving her back home with an unexpected reminder of her brief love affair.

When Ash shows up on their ranch she is torn between wanting to share all her joy with him and afraid to trust him to love her, not just their child.

J.L. Petersen lives in Denver with her husband.

She finds inspiration in her adopted state of Colorado and her belief love is the most powerful, positive emotion we can experience.

Snippet:
Confused for a moment about where she was, it slowly started coming back to her. Good god, she had fainted. She’d never fainted before in her life.
Today was her brother Clay, and new sister-in-law, Sandy’s wedding and it was being held in the backyard of the main homestead on the family ranch. Frowning, she tried to remember more.  She remembered helping Sandy get ready along with her sister Sarah and Sandy’s sister, RJ. They’d joked about RJ and Hannah’s other brother, Logan, having gotten engaged the night before.
Then it came to her. Ash. He was here. At the wedding. She remembered the feeling of being watched as she stood up front during the ceremony and scanned the crowd. When her eyes found his she’d panicked. Which is why she had escaped to this private area after the ceremony had ended. How had he found her? Oh, my god! He couldn’t know of the baby. The one they created on their single night together. The one she hadn’t even told her family about. Oh, god, please make him go away, she pleaded.

Book Tou: Raven’s Eye by Adam Gowans

Adam Gowans is the youngest of five Air Force brats, out of which his siblings have voted him the weirdest. He loves anything that deals with stories, including movies, novels, television dramas, music, video games, manga/manhwa, and webtoons.

In his mid-twenties, he lived and taught English in South Korea for four years before returning to the States to live, like many LDS authors, in Utah.

His first novel is On Angelic Wings, which has a planned sequel, but the sequel will be released after two other novels that are calling for his attention.

Ever since magic caused his mother's death, Ha-Neul, crown prince of Balhae, hates witches and the magic they wield. He has instituted harsh laws against all magic users.

Lisa is a young witch working undercover as a servant in his palace, hoping to gain freedom for her people. The last thing the two expect is to fall in love. But when Ha-Neul learns that Lisa is not only a witch, but the daughter of the Prince of Vires, land of witches, he banishes her. Distracted by heartbreak, he is caught off-guard by a military coup.

In hiding and on the run, Ha-Neul swallows his pride and travels with his siblings to Vires, planning to beg Lisa's aid, only to learn that she has mysteriously vanished.

Now his only hope in reclaiming his kingdom and reuniting with Lisa lies in the remote Northern Mountains, a country no one has ever penetrated and rumored home of a powerful magic source. There, Ha-Neul learns that a being powerful beyond comprehension has been carefully guiding his destiny. But if Ha-Neul can't let go of his hatred of all things magic, and accept the new path offered to him, it will mean the destruction of his entire world.

Snippet 1

“A servant is still a servant, no matter what title you give them.” Ha-
Na’s shock turned to bewilderment, but Lisa kept talking. “Unless I am
honorably dismissed, fired, or retired, my chance for earning a higher
education is now over. I had plans, Gongju.”
Ha-Na’s posture fell with guilt as the weight of Lisa’s words hit her. By
making Lisa a nain, a possible bride to the wangsil, Ha-Na had tied her to the
palace. “I didn’t know.”
“You didn’t bother to find out.”

---//---

Snippet 2

She glanced at Ha-Neul, feeling pressured to say something decent. “I
guess we don’t hate each other anymore.”
Su gave an exasperated sigh. “So stubborn.”
They finished their game and made their way back into the palace.
“Su, you have a lesson,” Ha-Na said. “I’ll take you.”
He took his sister’s hand and they left.
“‘I guess we don’t hate each other anymore.’” Ha-Neul mimicked her.
She groaned in annoyance. “Well, I guess I do not hate you anymore.”
Ha-Neul let out a short laugh to show his disbelief.
“What about you, Wangseja-Mama?”
He shook his head. “I don’t hate you. There’s no guessing about it.”
She turned her head away, feeling embarrassed and strangely warm. “I
do not hate you either.”

Summer Read Blitz: Aeonian Dreams by Morgan J Muir

Morgan J Muir lives in Utah with her fantastic husband, three offspring, and as many cats (but she doesn’t carry them with kits in sacks, and has never been to St. Ives). She grew up riding horses and motorcycles and listening to her grandmother read poetry. She grew up reading any sci-fi/fantasy novel she could get her hands on and so was surprised the day she discovered that she also really enjoyed historical fiction.
Morgan always loved to write and draw and her parents always liked to say that they knew she’d write a book some day.  Ever since she was small she told stories and drew pictures for her tales.  When she got old enough, all of her spare time between classes was spent writing and she always had a notebook with her.
Her first novel was originally written after her first child was born, to help her pass the long, lonely hours as a new stay-at-home mom.  As her kids got older and more came she was too busy to do much with her stories, until one year she was introduced to NaNoWriMo, which finally rekindled the spark that led her to finish what she’d started.

Morgan’s favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Kristen Britain and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Summer Reads Blitz: The Dragons of Alsace Farm by Laurie Lewis

Laurie (L.C.) Lewis will always be a Marylander at heart—a weather-whining lover of crabs, American history, and the sea. She admits to being craft-challenged, particularly lethal with a glue gun, and a devotee of sappy movies. Her ninth published novel, her first romance novella, Sweet Water, was inspired by a visit to Oregon’s magnificent coastline, and time spent with Mother Eugenie, upon whom the character Mother Thomasine is based.

Laurie’s women’s fiction novels include The Dragons of Alsace Farm (2016), Awakening Avery (2010), and Unspoken (2004), written as Laurie Lewis.

Using the pen name L.C. Lewis, she wrote the five volumes of her award-winning FREE MEN and DREAMERS historical fiction series, set against the backdrop of the War of 1812: Dark Sky at Dawn (2007), Twilight’s Last Gleaming (2008), Dawn’s Early Light (2009), Oh, Say Can You See? (2010), and In God is Our Trust, (2011).

She is currently completing a political suspense novel planned for a summer 2017 release, a re -release of a romantic comedy, and she’s working on another historical fiction novel for a 2018 release. She loves to hear from readers.

Fears and secrets are the dragons we each must face. . .

In need of his own redemption, Noah Carter finally confronts his childhood hero, the once-beloved uncle who betrayed him. Instead of vengeance, he offers forgiveness, also granting Uncle John a most curious request—for Noah to work on the ramshackle farm of Agnes Deveraux Keller, a French WWII survivor with dementia.

Despite all Agnes has lost, she still has much to teach Noah. But the pair’s unique friendship is threatened when Tayte, Agnes’s estranged granddaughter, arrives to claim a woman whose circumstances and abilities are far different from those of the grandmother she once knew.

Items hidden in Agnes’s attic raise painful questions about Tayte’s dead parents, steeling Tayte’s determination to save Agnes, even if it requires her to betray the very woman she came to save, and the secret her proud grandmother has guarded for seventy years.

The issue strains the fragile trust between Tayte and Noah, who now realizes Tayte is fighting her own secrets, her own dragons. Weighed down by past guilt and failures, he feels ill-equipped to help either woman, until he remembers Agnes’s lessons about courage and love. In order to save Agnes, the student must now become the teacher, helping Tayte heal—for Agnes’s sake, and for his.
