Q & A With The Author:

1.    Describe yourself in 50 words or less.

a.     I’m a very compassionate and kind person. Probably to a fault. I can’t say no hardly ever and then become stress over too many things on my list to accomplish. I’m an avid animal lover and I donate a percentage of all book sales to animal rescue.

2.    What do you love most in the world?
a.     My family – the humankind and my furbabies.

3.    What do you fear most?

a.     Just that the world has gotten a bit scary and I worry about my granddaughters. I worry about drugs, crime and overall the mean tone of our world. I have hope that we’ll turn it around. We need to.

4.    What is the hardest thing you've ever done?

a.     Watch my mom die before my eyes as I held her hand.

5.    Now that we've gotten to know each other, tell me a story. It can be long or short. From your childhood or last week. Funny, sad, or somewhere in between. Just make sure it's yours. What's your story?

a.     I was sicker than a dog a few days back. I’m pretty dramatic so I was convinced I was dying. I wasn’t, I was just sick. And I was sick and tired of being sick. My hubby of 41 years stayed home from work to help take care of me. He made me toast, hot tea and even cleaned up after I sort of made a mess. Now, that’s a man worth keeping and might make a good book boyfriend, what do you think? Lol.

For hundreds of years, the gates of Tarragon have been sealed from the outside. Prophecy speaks of the day the last Key Keeper will return and wake the dragons from their spell-cast slumber, returning them to their rightful home.

Seeking to fulfill her father's dying wish, Anwen Porter travels to the Drakonii Mountains where she meets Tyler, a mysterious local with a secret. With his help, she learns more about her clouded past and her own abilities. But when Courtney, a lovesick mage, tries to insert herself into their plans, things begin to go horribly wrong.

With death threatening at every turn, Anwen must learn to rely on her newfound friends to survive. But how can she unravel the mystery of her heritage when everything is trying to kill her?

Snippet:

'The Mountains rise majestically all around,'” he began to quote. “'The sapphire blue waters of Lake Wyvern shimmer across the way, keeping sentinel over the Sacred Island.'
Anwen almost stopped breathing, refusing to move any closer as she stood in shock. “How did you know that,” she breathed. “No one could know that. No one.” Unless he’d somehow snuck into her room while she wasn’t looking and read her great grandmother’s diary.

Tyler looked at her as he dropped her hand, one foot still in the boat, sensing her confusion and fear. “'Across the shore. Down the Consecrated Hall. Past the tombs of the immortals, lies the gateway to the Stone City, home to those who dwell with us. And further still, the Gates of Eternity that lead to Tarragon, home of all dragonkind,' from A History of the Keepers.”

Book Tour: Soul Mirrors by Wiley A Haydon III

My love of storytelling traces back to my step-mother, who spun wonderful fantasy stories when I was child. I finished my first novel at sixteen. That first attempt was terrible, but taught me quite a bit about story construction. Though I would start numerous other projects in the following years, I wouldn't actually complete another book for another 21 years.
I wasn't idle in that time, though. I earned a degree in engineering, married the love of my life, worked as a semi- truck driver crisscrossing the country, moved from Texas to North Dakota and then came back home.
It's been a fun and interesting journey. I really enjoy engineering, but writing was my first passion, and I'm excited to share it with you.
I currently live in West Texas with my wife and our two adorable (but weird) cats.

"No one knows how human genetics evolved to create Mirrors. No one knows how the evidence of a criminal’s last horrendous act can be confirmed in a single gaze of a child’s silvered eyes. But just because science can’t explain something doesn’t mean it can’t be used, and this gift is simply too valuable to ignore.

Twins Thomas and Ashley Ross have grown up knowing they would be used as Mirrors for the “good” of humanity. When their powers mature at age twelve, they are taken weekly to fulfill their role. By reliving the most heinous crimes from a perpetrators’ perspective, they alone can assure that no innocent people will be executed, and that the worst offenders are not set free due to lack of evidence.

Justice is not without cost, however. Taking on the memories of others is a destructive process, one that quickly consumes the children involved until most take their own lives. As despair threatens to drown Thomas and Ashley, a distant hope keeps them from succumbing: If they can make it to their eighteenth birthday, their contract with the government will be fulfilled. Changing views on the morality of their role threatens to tear them apart, but the twins struggle to cling to each other and try to construct a fragile life above the weekly flood of horrors.

As their work takes it toll, however, a new question emerges: does survival even matter when you’re already broken beyond repair?"

Snippet #1
“Whenever you’re ready, Thomas.”
Hands that had threatened to dissolve into anxious trembles found stillness at the final
moment. Gripping the glasses from both sides, he unlocked the frames, then cautiously
slid them over his ears and off his nose. Light exploded unhindered around the plastic, and
he winced. Head tilted down so that the accused man was just out of his sight, Thomas
finished pulling the dark covers from his face and set the glasses on the table. Drawing a
final, tense breath, he looked up.
Thomas’s silver eyes locked abruptly with Mr. Carson’s deep brown, and the world
lurched.

*****
Snippet #2
Thomas curled up, pulling as much into a ball as he could. He felt tears in his eyes
but fought them down. He’d always hated crying with his glasses on; the frames trapped
the tears inside. Today, though, he didn’t want to show weakness to his jailer.
He felt Sam’s hand on his shoulder and tried to jerk away but couldn’t get any farther
from the man. He settled for burying his face away, hiding in the dark hollows of his hands.
“I want good things for you, Thomas. I want good things for Mirrors. I want you to
live a long life and find happiness.”
“Won’t happen,” Thomas shot back. “I’m going to die in a few years. You know that.”
“You’re not dead yet, are you?”
“The glass is always half full for you, isn’t it?” Thomas asked, turning back to glare.
“I guess it’s easier to be an optimist when it’s not your glass.”

Blitz: The Christmas Switch by Laura L Walker

Laura L. Walker grew up in a large family in the beautiful Gila Valley of southern Arizona. From the time Laura was young, she spent hours drawing characters on paper and fantasizing about their adventures. Life became more serious, however, when Laura met her own hero and they eventually became the parents of six children. In between spurts of grocery shopping, sewing costumes or quilts, transporting kids to practices, and making dinner, Laura still enjoys putting her imagination to good use. She is the author of four contemporary romances.

1890 Nebraska

For schoolmarm Amanda Cordell, Christmas Eve means getting through the special program she and her pupils have put together for the townsfolk in Langdon. And even though she has vowed to not set eyes on handsome Calvin Hunsaker, it becomes inevitable when his incorrigible son needs her help. Everyone knows how bitter Calvin is over his wife's sudden death, and somehow Amanda senses that he sees her the same way, as the spineless, helpless socialite she used to be.

Calvin Hunsaker is determined to ignore the feeling of attraction stirring inside him for the new schoolmarm, even if she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. But she's here to pick up the pieces after her brother and sister-in-law's untimely deaths and raise their two youngsters, not bedazzle him with the same charms his first wife possessed. Better to bundle up and head out of this one-room schoolhouse the second the program's ends.

But a winter storm and two mischievous boys have other plans, and Amanda and Calvin's plans to avoid each other go awry when Calvin is stranded at Amanda's house over the Christmas holiday. Will there be joy and thanksgiving in their future or will the winter blues descend on them once again?"

Q&A With the Author:

1.  Describe yourself in 50 words or less.
I am a wife, mother of six, and person with big ideas--most of which are usually too big for me to put into reasonable action. Does that make me a risk taker? I'm not sure, but in life we all have to take a chance at something, right?

2. What do you love most in the world?
My family and my religion

3. What inspired you to become an Author?
I've always been a dreamer. My fictional world is (usually) more exciting than my real life. And, being an author of sweet romance, the biggest thing I dream about is the big kiss at the end!

4. What is your largest unfulfilled dream, and what are you doing to reach it?
I want to travel and see lots of new places. Writing and publishing stories that people want to read is one way I'm working toward that dream.

5. What is your trick for getting past writer's block? And what advice do you have for other authors who are struggling to tell their story?
Don't get bogged down by a strict outline. Form a basic one and go from there. Let your characters guide you. They'll tell you the story.

6. Now that we've gotten to know each other, tell me a story. It can be long or short. From your childhood or last week. Funny, sad, or somewhere in between. Just make sure it's yours. What's your story?
My grandmother's birthday falls on the week before Christmas. As a child, I remember every Christmas when my aunts and uncles, cousins, and mom and dad and siblings would get together and have a big birthday/Christmas party for her. At the end of the party, we went around town, caroling at the homes of elderly people in our town. Sadly, the tradition has stopped, and I miss those nostalgic days.
